Volvo’s New Vision 2020

July 31, 2012

Volvo has a new vision for 2020. Their vision is that no one be killed or injured in a Volvo by 2020.

To fulfill this vision, Volvo is looking at “vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communication.” New features will include speed management functions to reduce accidents even if the driver is not paying attention. The new Volvo’s will be able to detect vehicle, animals, and objects and be able to slow and even stop the vehicle to avoid an accident. It will also automatically adjust your cruise control to maintain a safe driving distance! If the car detects that you are changing lanes without a signal (therefore leading it to believe that you are changing lanes unintentionally), it will alert you. The Volvo will also feature Driver Alert Control, Collision Warning with Auto Brake, and Drowsiness Prevention Systems.

Volvo’s current models:
Crossovers: XC60, XC70, XC90
Sedans: S60, S80
Couples: C30, C70

These new Volvo’s sounds pretty sweet! What do you think? Do you think they’ll pull it off? We think so!
